The book describes quit well the feelings, thoughts and experiences of a woman, who's husband left her for another woman, while she stays with their 2 children and dog. the descriptions are quit realiable, very frank and sometimes shocking. she examines their relations, motherhood, envy, hate, frustration etc.

There are some good and authentic moments, and the book is quit "flowing", not boring although most of it is about daily life, but still - at some point I lost my interest and felt like she should have gotten over these feelings by now, and stop being so selfish and self-centered...although I could relate to her pain, it was hard for me to accept her behavior toward her children and the poor dog, but then again - this novel is not about being an ideal figure or normal, it's about falling into pieces.

The author (who's anonymous, by the way) had been compared to another Italian author, Natalia Ginsburg - I dissagree this compatison...I think Ginsburg is less upfront, more subtle in her descriptions, which as a result makes it easier to identify with her characters.

Bottom line: Not so bad, but no THAT good. all in all worth reading (because it's interesting and original). mostly for women.
