I found god in a convenience store
but he didn't recognize me.
At somewhere between three am
And one o’clock,
Looking for ice-cream.
When my world was as small as a
cookie dough ice cream container.
it was doing back flips at my toes,
Shaking up aisles of sodas and pouring over soft drinks,
making the path of my shoes sticky.
It was spiraling and crumbling around me
where i could spot myself-
sitting at the cashier desk looking straight at me,
And from every direction there were cheshire eyes
Wearing a cheshire smile.
Non was real except for my cookie dough.
And all those stars dancing near my throat with a promise of
Nothing at all
And all the people i’m not ready to be.
Saying they’ll avenge me when i choke on
Non existent combinations
Of the deli aisle and the milky way.
I found god in a convenience store;
But he didn’t recognize me
He passed right by me
And my ice cream container,
Not batting an eye.
