Magiology-Magic and Mythology
Lucian's book
Chapter 1
Listen here, young men and women while l tell you a tale that you have never heard the like before, a story beyond your wildest imagination.
Our story takes place in a contemporary world to ours, on a planet like ours, called Wonder World, a place of magic populated by monsters and heroes with weapons that people in our world used a millennia ago, in the only country which was not inhabited by monsters and dragons.
Our story starts at the king's hunt. King Gingeran raced the elite fighting monster troop through the thick forest of Gingeran Land, a country that changed its name according to the king-hero who ruled it.
"After it," bellowed the king's voice through his full beard. His long black hair was crowned by a great gold helmet. His horse was the fastest in the land. The soldiers wearing the bronze colored shirt that distinguished them as monster fighting troops followed him, spurring their horses to go faster. Spear at hand the king tried to pierce the bristan up front, but it was too far away. The bristan, a creature with dark black fur and a wolf like face with a dark brown mane and long dark purple claws, ran on all fours crying with honks of alarm.
They passed willow trees and rocks and finally reached a field where other bristans grazed. The king's eyes narrowed into cruel expectation. The bristans pricked up their heads. At the first sound of honks and war cries, some bolted, while others bared their fangs and stood in a line waiting for the soldiers.
"Charge, so they will not kill our men and destroy our villages. Charge" cried the king, his shield glistening in the sun. He sensed the onset of war. There was a clash when the spears met the claws. It was followed by shouts of men and cries of the attacked bristans. Horses whinnied and cried out in pain as the battle raged on. The king riding on his black stallion rushed forward with all his might killing any bristans in his path. He was not to be stopped. The minute he saw Orwhat, the king of the bristans, he lunged at him with his spear. Orwhat stood on his hind legs and roared. He slapped the king off the horse's back while pulling the spear out of the king's hand. The king in return took out a beautiful sword, shouting "Die, foul beast" as he jumped forward. The sword missed Orwhat and as the king tried to jab him again Orwhat struck with an attack of his own.
The center of town was full of people. A high stage had been erected with several people seated on chairs. A woman wept surrounded by her two sons. In the middle of the stage was a coffin with the name Gineran written in big black letters. Behind the three men sitting on chairs was a big pole with a flag flying half mast. A man in front of the coffin stood up. He had a long beard and glasses, and read out from a long scroll. His speech was about the king. He told of days of happiness, victory and justice. "I am Intzingioos, the king's lawyer. After my long speech about the king I hope that you think, as I do, that the king was one of the bravest we had in a long time." Then the old man took a flaming torch and lit the grave. Intzingioos lifted his head up. He waited until the fire blazed high and then said in a trembling voice: "I invite the council of heros to choose the next hero-king who will lead us." One of the woman's sons stood up straight in front of Intzingioos and called out "I am Lucian, Gingeran's son". An old man with a black robe and a funny moustache stepped forward and in a high, funny voice announced: "I am Mongron, Gingeran's magician." An older man wearing a battle suit limped to the center of the stage and in an angry-war like voice he shouted:" I am Captain Maboo the Great, a general of the monster fighting troops." The last man was young and handsome. He strode forward gracefully and said:"I am Captain Tom the Mighty, a general of the monster fighting troops." There was silence for a moment as Intzingioos coughed and then read on:" I am Intzingioos, the king's lawyer, and I hereby declare that by law Lucian should be the new king-hero. All in favor." The four people on the stage lifted their hands. "Then," continued Intzingioos, "I hereby crown Lucian as the hero-king of Lucian land."
