It can become difficult to separate the teachings of Buddha from our own practice of them — a struggle explored in Thich Nhat Hanh’s Thundering Silence. Ideology is valuable, but Nhat Hanh tells readers that practice must adapt to the world in which ideology exists. The attitude of openness, non-attachment from views, and playfulness offered by the Buddha in this sutra is an important door for us to enter the realm of Mahayana Buddhist thought and practice.
