Funny and tender, this beautifully illustrated tale follows Maisie Moo, a youngster who lives with her parents in a place called Gone Bonkers Discount Palace. Children will relate to Maisie’s plight as a child who won’t help with the chores and is perhaps a bit mischievous too. She shares her troubles and joys with her invisible friend, Lucy, and longs for her father, a truck driver who is often away from home. Time and time again parents will enjoy sharing this gentle examination of family life with kids.

On the day I was born . . . She called me Special Kev. I am the only one

of all my eleventy million cousins who has curly hair, red hair, and freckles. Anyway that thing that happened with Nicky Bathgate, well, it wasn't my fault.

Chris McKimmie’s specialty is to evoke the emotions of childhood with a child’s clarity, unfiltered by adult language, visual or verbal. Kev is different than other members of his family. Through his conflict with Fatty Boombah, we experience not only his punishment but also his redemption through the love of his parents and extended family.
