Henri Le Sidaner (1862-1939), an important French artist, has been forgotten for a long time. Unjustly, as he created his own independent and refined style. The impressionists coloring and subtle translucency give his works a fine poesy hidden magic. He influenced with his uncommon style many of the late impressionists and young painters in search for a personal sight on things. The Chemnitz Art Collections are hosting the first one man-exhibition in Europe of the magical Impressionist Henri le Sidaner since more than 40 years. This beautifully illustrated monograph catalogue is enriched by a biography written by Yann Farinaux-Le Sidaner, the artist's great-grandson....

With the exhibition series Talents, C/O e.V. is supporting up-and-coming photographers and art critics who are launching their careers. Each solo exhibition is accompanied by a publication in which images and texts enter into a dialogue: the emerging talents introduce themselves and their projects to a wider audience and put their work up for discussion, creating a public forum. With this project an experimental space for young contemporary photography and art criticism from Germany and abroad has been created. The strongly reduced photographs by Oskar Schmidt are both portraits and interiors, focusing not only on individuality, but on general forms and postures....

This is the very first publication to document, introduce and discuss around 70 inlaid patchworks created from 1500 to the present day. The objects are held by various museums and private collections in Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia and the United States of America. What unites these coverlets and occasionally sizable wall hangings is the method of their creation: a unique manner of fabricating ornate textile images from cut pieces of leftover woolen cloth. The topics addressed by their designs and motifs range from religious and ornamental iconography to episodes in European history. In addition, the catalogue provides a basis for further interdisciplinary research. Culture historians, textile scientists, artists and textile enthusiasts will be fascinated by the socio-historical contexts and extraordinary production technique of these objects, as well as the vibrant imagery they present us with....

The buildings are documented with informative texts, up-to-date photos, and ground plans. The layout according to tours of city districts, maps and detailed indices make orientation easy, even for strangers to the city....

The color Black has a long tradition in Chinese art and also has a special meaning since a long time as it is in European painting. Black=/Black presents the results of the intercultural art seminar with Chinese and German students at the Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, Germany and shows the works, that were created in an experiment with black acrylic colors, chalks, watercolors and lacquers. That Black does not equal Black is experienced that way....

Photojournalism in Scandinavia is of a high, international standard. Especially Danish photographers have won several prices in World Press Photo and other international competitions during the past ten years. Some of the best up-and-coming photographers participated in a series of Master classes in Norway in fall 2008. This book is the result of this work. The former president of Iceland, Mrs. Vigdis Finnbagadottir, writes in her foreword: The photos of the young photographers give us a broad, but also sharp and untraditional view of the Nordic welfare states and its people. Their pictures will certainly inspire us to reconsider our attitudes and ideas about the welfare state and democracy. From this we can get inspiration for our visions about the future....
