Robert Munsch, Canada's best-selling author, is constantly in demand, and his books are always popular with young and old alike. This 'superstar' storyteller's books have sold more than 20 million copies.

Last year brought "Munschworks: The First Munsch Collection," and "Booklist" praised it as "a treasure chest of crowd-pleasing picture books at a bargain price."

But one volume cannot possibly contain ALL the Munsch favorites - it would be too heavy to lift at bedtime! Now volume two has another five classic Munsch tales:

* "Pigs," illustrated by Michael Martchenko Follow Megan as she tries to get the pigs back into their pen, and discover that pigs are a lot smarter than you think.

* "Purple, Green and Yellow," illustrated by Helene Desputeaux Brigid loves to draw and, when she gets her new super-indelible-never-come-off- till-you're-dead-and-maybe-even-later coloring markers, nothing is safe!

* "Mortimer," illustrated by Michael Martchenko Discover why bedtime is such a noisy time with Mortimer around.

* "Murmel, Murmel, Murmel," illustrated by Michael Martchenko Who needs a baby that says "murmel, murmel, murmel"? Certainly not Robin, but she is determined to find someone who does.

* "Something Good," illustrated by Michael Martchenko Tyya's dad won't buy anything good at the store - no ice cream, no candy, no cookies. But when the saleslady puts a price sticker on Tyya's nose, Daddy is finally forced to buy something good.

Robert Munsch was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He studied to be a Jesuit priest, but decided to work with children instead. He taught in a variety of nursery schools and daycare centers while he earned an M.A. in Early Childhood Education. In 1975, he and his wife Ann moved to Guelph, Ontario. They have three children: Julie, Andrew and Tyya (see them all in "Something Good!").

Michael Martchenko has illustrated over 30 books for children and has exhibited his work throughout North America. He has won numerous awards for design and illustration. He lives with his wife Patricia in Toronto.

Helene Desputeaux has illustrated over 50 children's books for publishers. She lives outside Montreal....

"Children will love the way Moira's parents collapse at each fresh disaster while Moira sails along, calmly solving each problem."--Homemaker's Magazine. ". . . . brims with humor, bright colors and intensity."--Quill and Quire, Canada's Book Review Journal. Full-color illustrations....

This is a favorite from Bob Munsch's live storytelling sessions.

Brigid is on the trail of the ultimate felt marker. At first, she's satisfied to be drawing wonderful pictures. But soon she must have the markers that wash off with water. Then she needs the markers that smell.

But she's happiest when she gets the super-indelible-never-comes-off-till-you're-dead markers. She draws brighter-than-real lemons and roses and then goes too far: Brigid draws on herself. Nothing will remove the color, so Brigid reaches deep into the box of markers, finds the people-colored marker, and covers up all the other colors. She looks better than before, too good to be true.

And Brigid is certain that no one will find out her secret. Especially since her father awakes from a nap and looks in the mirror. He looks a bit too good to be true too…

What makes Robert Munsch's stories so popular? They're contemporary and zany, reflecting "a jaunty belief in the power of children..." says Horn Book Magazine. This first best-of collection features five all-time favorites:

  • David's Father
  • The Fire Station
  • I Have to Go!
  • The Paper Bag Princess
  • Thomas' Snowsuit

Michael Martchenko's exuberant artwork has been re-sized for this new format.

"Yeow!" shouts Andrew. "Do something about my loose tooth. It hurts to much I can't eat my apple." Andrew's dad breaks his pliers trying to pull that tooth. Andrew's dentist can't pull it either--not even by tying a rope to Andrew's tooth and driving off in his car. The Tooth Fairy is a biker chick who says, "This is the first tooth ever that I can't pull out!"Andrew's best friend, Louis, ends up saving the day with his special tooth-removing remedy--lots and lots of pepper up Andrew's nose!

20.

It's Mortimer's bedtime, but he would much rather sing his rowdy song. Mom, Dad and even the police can't get him to quiet down, until they become so distracted by each otherthat Mortimer drifts off to sleep.

21.

26.
Andrew's mother always embarrasses him when they go to the mall. But Andrew needs new shoes, so there is no escape! This time is no different.
