Ages 7 to 14 years. The extreme climates of the North and South Poles make the polar oceans unlike any other bodies of water on Earth. Despite the severe conditions, an amazing diversity of wildlife thrives in the Arctic and Southern Oceans and depends on these bodies of water for survival. Children will learn about: similarities and differences between Arctic and Antarctic waters; how polar ocean creatures have adapted; polar ocean food chains and food webs; permanent ice and ice formations; interconnections among polar oceans and other seas and oceans; global consequences of environmental changes.
