Cast the First Stone is a murder mystery whose heroine, Trini Bates, is a dowser. Dowsers have traditionally been known as "water witches" because of their ability to locate underground water for wells. However, a talented dowser can find much more: lost articles, buried treasure, missing people. Cast the First Stone is about a young widow in Depression-era Colorado who uses her dowsing ability to locate a missing person--a murder victim. Trini is devastated when her only brother is accused of the crime by a corrupt lawman. Determined to prove her brother's innocence, Trini vows to use her talent to find the killer and save his life.
