Howard Friel and Richard Falk analyze the New York Times coverage of the Israel-Palestine conflict from September 29, 2000 to December 2006, and show that the Times disproportionately reported Palestinian violence, even while the Israelis killed four times the number of Palestinians in the period, according to the major human rights organizations. The authors also show that the Times under-reports or ignores altogether international law as it applies to the conflict, including the Fourth Geneva Convention, which outlaws Israel's settlements in the West Bank. They also describe the Times coverage of Israel's invasions of Gaza and Lebanon in summer 2006. The authors also continue their analysis of New York Times editorial policy as it applies to US foreign policy (which is more fully described in their earlier volume, The Record of the Paper), which mostly ignores international law as it applies to the United States and its principal allies, to the detriment of the integrity of US journalism, US policy, and an informed American electorate....
