Tom was educated in the public schools of Lynchburg, Virginia. A true patriot, he received a bronze star in Vietnam, and after three years in the military, married the former Phoebe Murphy. They have three sons. Tom received his B.S. from Liberty University at age thirty and his M.A.R. at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary twenty years later.
